Structural Deterioration

High-Temperature Failure
Under extreme heat (where surface temperatures can exceed 70°C), asphalt pavements are prone to softening, rutting, and shear failure. In hot, humid climates, a critical risk is the blowing of asphalt patches by jet blast, which can cause foreign object debris (FOD) damage to aircraft. Our work focuses on advanced material that offers higher stability at elevated temperatures and improved adhesion, directly addressing the safety and performance issues.
